My name is Christine, and my family is so awesome that you should definitely be keeping up with us. I manage our happy household out of Chicagoland as a stay-at-home mom. Yes, I have a degree. No, I never want to use it. I just want to keep having babies and managing our teeny home. I have broad creative interests, namely sewing, knitting, baking, and some decorating, but as you can imagine, life is often too busy to address all the projects I have planned. I am also, along with my family, a convert to Orthodox Christianity.
This is my husband, whom I call The Professor. He is an amazing father, and he still makes my heart go pitter-patter, which is why we keep getting pregnant. (Sorry, Grammy.) He is an incredibly intelligent man with insanely ambitious goals, which he is systematically pursuing and achieving, all while fulfilling my whims (paint that room! fix that leak! magically produce extra money for this thing I want!) and making our children shriek with glee. I am kind of in awe of him. He works as a planetarium operator at our alma mater, and his college teaching duties are on hold while he pursues a doctorate in the History and Philosophy of Science at Notre Dame. I like telling people that. He also introduced me to Star Trek: The Next Generation and peanut-butter-and-marshmallow sandwiches.
This is J, our sweet oldest son. He is four, and he loves trains more than anything in the entire world, except for maybe his red train shirt, which still, ironically enough, involves trains. He is an expert at teasing his siblings, but he is also the quickest to come to their defense and aid in time of crisis. J is all energy, all curiosity, at all times, and I have all but given up on convincing him to cuddle me. Currently his favorite pasttime is asking really, really tricky questions. I think he looks like Opie Taylor.
This is sweet B, J's twin brother. (Yes, they are red-headed twins, but please, let's just get over that right this moment.) B feels everything very, very deeply, which means he is serious and sensitive at all times. No one feels hardship and heartache, as well as euphoria and glee, as deeply as B, especially when said emotions are on behalf of others. B loves trains almost as much as his brother, and he likes to gloat that he got the Thomas the Tank Engine swim trunks this summer.
This is C, also known as King Peter the Boy, our three-year-old daughter. She thinks she is a triplet, and she absolutely worships the ground her brothers walk on. Don't be fooled by her angelic appearance, though: C is, by far, the most strong-headed and determined of our children. We are doing our best to harness these qualities for an awesome, independent, can-do future. Meanwhile, we endure lots of tantrums tempered with lots of hugs and kisses.
This is The Raisin, our new red-headed baby boy H, who arrived in early October of 2011. So far he really enjoys eating, farting, belching, pooping, napping, and occasionally looking around long enough to get everyone excited and yelling, "Hey, look who's awake! Guys, look!" Then he's asleep again. Despite his lack of marketable skills, we're all pretty smitten.
Hope you've enjoyed this introduction to our family! Now jump on in and get to know us.
